Do Not Be Satan’s Doormat--God Gave You Everything You Need To Be Powerful

“For His divine power has bestowed on us [absolutely] everything necessary for [a dynamic spiritual] life and godliness, through true and personal knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.” (II Peter 1:3 AMP)

God has given us everything we need to live a fruitful and abundant life.

He gave us the Bible, which is not only His book of instructions, but also His story.  It also tells of His character.

“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12)

“But He answered and said, 'It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4)

“All Scripture is God-breathed [given by divine inspiration] and is profitable for instruction, for conviction [of sin], for correction [of error and restoration to obedience], for training in righteousness [learning to live in conformity to God’s will, both publicly and privately--behaving honorably with personal integrity and moral courage]; so that the man of God may be complete and proficient, outfitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (II Timothy 3:16-17 AMP)

“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” (Joshua 1:8)

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.” (Romans 1:16)

He has given us the Holy Spirit, who is God in us and all of His power.  The same power that created the world is in us!

“For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.” (Colossians 2:9-10)

He tells us to speak to our mountain; why?  Because His power is in us!  So, stop being Satan’s doormat!

“It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.” (John 6:63)

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it and indulge it will eat its fruit and bear the consequences of their words.” (Proverbs 18:21 AMP)

Satan brings fear, intimidation, doubt, worry, anxiety, and more.

God is peace and love. He cannot go against His true nature. He brings hope; He gives us a future.

Fear and Anxiety

  • The Attack: Fear makes you doubt God's protection and worry about the future.

  • 2 Timothy 1:7 – "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."

Guilt and Shame

  • The Attack: The enemy brings up past mistakes to make you feel unworthy and unforgiven.

  • Romans 8:1 – "There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit."

Anger and Bitterness

  • The Attack: Frustration and resentment are used to stir up conflict and divide relationships.

  • Ephesians 4:26-27 – "'Be angry, and do not sin': do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil."

Discouragement and Hopelessness

  • The Attack: Heavy sadness and exhaustion make you want to quit on your faith and your calling.

  • Galatians 6:9 – "And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart."

Pride and Doubt, worry

Anxiety (Loss of Peace)

  • The Attack: Anxiety floods your mind with "what-ifs," making you feel unsafe and forcing your focus onto worst-case scenarios instead of God's sovereignty.

  • Philippians 4:6-7 – "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."

Rage (Loss of Control)

  • The Attack: Rage acts like a sudden wildfire. It bypasses logic and pushes you to react harshly, destroy relationships, or say things you will later regret.

  • Proverbs 14:29 – "He who is slow to wrath has great understanding, but he who is impulsive exalts folly."

Impatience (The Urge to Rush)

  • The Attack: Impatience tells you that God is moving too slowly, tempting you to force open doors, take shortcuts, or run ahead of His timing.

  • Isaiah 28:16 – "Therefore thus says the Lord God... 'Whoever believes will not act hastily.'"

  • Psalm 27:14: "Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart."

God Does Not Tempt You

  • The Truth: God may test your faith to make you stronger, but He never entices you to sin or traps you. He always provides an escape route.

  • James 1:13 – "Let no one say when he is tempted, 'I am tempted by God'; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone."

  • Supporting Verse: 1 Corinthians 10:13 – "God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it."

Satan is the Tempter and Tormentor

  • The Truth: Satan uses lies, mental torment, and fear to make you feel trapped, frantic, and disconnected from God.

  • 1 Peter 5:8 – "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour."

  • Supporting Verse: John 10:10 – "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."

God Gives Peace, Not Torment

  • The Truth: When you feel a heavy spirit of fear, confusion, or frantic rushing, that is a sign of spiritual warfare—it is not coming from God.

  • 1 John 4:18 – "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love."

Are you wearing your armor?  Are you using it? Or are you being Satan’s doormat?  God gave you what you need: the Holy Spirit and His Power.  You have what you need; use it.

Jesus did in the desert; He told Satan to flee. “Get thee behind Me.”

Do you?  You DO NOT HAVE TO OWN EVERY THOUGHT THAT COMES INTO YOUR MIND!  THE NEGATIVE THAT BRINGS YOU DOWN IS FROM SATAN, NOT GOD.

“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.” (II Corinthians 10:3-6)

God loves you and wants the best for you.

“The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: 'I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.” (Jeremiah 31:3)

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

“For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,’ says the Lord, ‘plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call on Me, and you will come and pray to Me, and I will hear [your voice], and I will listen to you.” (Jeremiah 29:11-12 AMP)

God Is Love

  • 1 John 4:8: "Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love."

  • 1 John 4:16: "So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him."

  • Meaning: Love is not merely something God does on occasion; it is the core of His eternal identity.

God Cannot Go Against Who He Is (He Cannot Deny Himself)

  • 2 Timothy 2:13: "If we are faithless, he remains faithful—for he cannot deny himself." (The New Living Translation translates this as: "If we are unfaithful, he remains faithful, for he cannot deny who he is.")

  • Numbers 23:19: "God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it.”

  • Hebrews 6:18: "...it is impossible for God to lie..."

  • Malachi 3:6: "For I the Lord do not change..."

  • Meaning: God is immutable, meaning His character (including His love, truth, and faithfulness) never shifts. He cannot act contrary to His own perfection because He cannot "deny Himself"

God wants you to use what He gave you; use it.

Through the Power of the Holy Spirit in you, you have what you need. Are you using the arsenal God has given you?

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.  Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.” (Ephesians 6:10-18)
