Letting Go; Trusting God

"A man’s mind plans his way [as he journeys through life], but the Lord directs his steps and establishes them." (Proverbs 16:9 AMP)

Trouble is Inevitable

Trouble surrounds us continually, and in our hearts and minds we plan how we think it needs to be done. If it does not happen right away, we stress over it; we wait, we pray, but we still, at times, stress.

God has been there for us time and time again, but in times of extreme trouble, we will stress.

God's timing and His ways are rarely the same as ours.

"For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts." (Isaiah 55:8-9)

Habakkuk was a prophet, and the Lord gave him a prophecy of the attack that would come from Babylon. Knowing what would come- the trouble, the devastation, and those hurt due to it- he still chose to place his trust in God.

"Though the fig tree may not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines; though the labor of the olive may fail, and the fields yield no food; though the flock may be cut off from the fold, and there be no herd in the stalls—Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.

The Lord God is my strength; He will make my feet like deer’s feet, and He will make me walk on my high hills." (Habakkuk 3:17-19)

What is Your Attitude?

What is your first reaction when surrounded by trouble, when it is overwhelming and truly beyond your control? What is your reaction when the answers take longer than you want?

Is it like Habakkuk, saying, "Yet I will rejoice in the Lord."

It should be one of trust, but we all falter at this at times.

"I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth." (Psalm 34:1)

This is when we pray and ask for help. The Lord is always with us and lives to intercede for us. He is just a prayer away.

Help is Always Near

He says He will, "Never leave us nor forsake us." He is merciful, full of grace; His understanding knows no limit, His love unconditional.

"Ask, and you will receive." (John 16:24)

His promises are yes and amen. He promises in His word that He will answer better than we can ask, think, or imagine. You can trust Him; Jesus' death on the cross proves that.

You may plan your course, but God determines the outcome. His ways are higher, so be very grateful that He plans the course!

"Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us." (Ephesians 3:20)

Let us pray

"Father, help those in need, whether it is financial provision, direction, deliverance, health issues, comfort, or anything else. Provide and give them peace; let them know you are near, and you love them. In Jesus' Name, Amen."
