What If God Doesn't Heal You the Way You Expected? The Healing Pride Almost Stole

"Then Naaman went with his horses and chariot, and he stood at the door of Elisha’s house. And Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall be restored to you, and you shall be clean.” But Naaman became furious, and went away and said, “Indeed, I said to myself, ‘He will surely come out to me, and stand and call on the name of the Lord his God, and wave his hand over the place, and heal the leprosy.’ Are not the Abanah and the Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? Could I not wash in them and be clean?” So he turned and went away in a rage. And his servants came near and spoke to him, and said, “My father, if the prophet had told you to do something great, would you not have done it? How much more then, when he says to you, ‘Wash, and be clean’?” So he went down and dipped seven times in the Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God; and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean." (II Kings 5:9-14)

We can read the Bible and be a follower of Jesus and a child of God, even for years, and we will still NEVER fully understand God's ways. His ways are higher than ours, and He knows the end from the beginning. We don't! We only know what HE chooses to reveal to us.

"Seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, and He will have mercy on him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon. “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.“For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts." (Isaiah 55:6-9)

We are NOT called to always understand God, but we are called to trust Him. He died on the cross for US! He was beaten beyond human recognition. He had a crown of thorns digging into His head, and beaten, with the skin torn off of His back, bloody all over, and weary, had to carry an over 200-pound cross up the hill of Golgotha, His death sentence and one that should be ours!

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Who are we to rage in pride against God and demand He heals us in OUR way? That is disrespectful to God and does not honor Him. He is God, we are not!

We get caught up in how WE think our prayers need to be answered, but we do not know what is up ahead in our journey; only God knows that. So, He alone knows the RIGHT way to answer our prayers and at the RIGHT time.

If you have acted in pride, and maybe unaware, repent, He will have mercy. "But He gives more grace. Therefore, He says: “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” (James 4:6)

God is not man, made of flesh, so He will NEVER LIE OR CHANGE HIS MIND. What He says in His word, He will do; He IS a covenant-keeping God. We must be patient, and we need to stop playing god and allow Him to do it His way, and in His time.

"At the right time, I, the LORD, will make it happen.” (Isaiah 60:22)

And, He will blow your mind with the answer; it will be better than you could EVER imagine.

Decide that you will NOT give in to Satan's ways, come back, repent, and choose to trust and wait on God, even if it is to spite Satan.

"Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen." (Ephesians 3:20-21)
