Are You Anchored?

(Isaiah 48:2) "For they call themselves after the holy city, and anchor themselves upon the God of Israel; The Lord of hosts is His name.”
A boat out to sea will be tossed to and fro when a strong wind comes up. The waves of the sea will splash up against it, tossing it all about, and the proper anchor can hold it and keep it from being carried away by the waves and turned over. Are you anchored to the Most High God? Do you place your hope in Him through Jesus Christ? Or are you tossed to and fro by life’s circumstances, wavering in unbelief and following after the ways of the world?
(James 1:6-8) “But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all his ways.”
The world will pass away, and eternity is forever—where do you want to spend it?
(I John 2:15-17) “Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.”
For the child of God, we have a hope, an anchor for our souls that we will spend eternity in heaven with God our Father and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Without faith, it is impossible to please God, and without placing our faith in Jesus, we are lost.
(Hebrews 11:6) “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.”
The moment you receive Jesus as Lord and Savior, you have the Holy Spirit and the Fruit of the Holy Spirit to lead you and guide you through life, an anchor of hope for this life and hope for an eternal life of peace in heaven in the next life.
(Hebrews 6:12-20) “We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised. When God made His promise to Abraham, since there was no one greater for Him to swear by, He swore by Himself, saying, “I will surely bless you and give you many descendants.” And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised. People swear by someone greater than themselves, and the oath confirms what is said and puts an end to all argument. Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of His purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, He confirmed it with an oath. God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged. We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.”
The Spirit of the Lord within us tells us that we will be with Him forever; that hope carries us through each trial, knowing that He will not only lead us through each trial in victory but through to the ultimate victory, a home in heaven forever.
(I Thessalonians 4:17) “After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.”
