Are You Broken Yet?

(Mark 14:3) “While he was in Bethany, reclining at the table in the home of Simon the Leper, a woman came with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, made of pure nard. She broke the jar and poured the perfume on his head.”

You are struggling to hold on when all you need to do is let go!

Stop fighting to hold on; stop struggling within yourself to be strong and to get through all of your problems. Stop struggling to make sure you do everything just right so all the issues you are dealing with will work out ok, when all you need to do is to let go and trust that God has you and He will not let you fall. (Psalm 55:22) “Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous fall.”

What you need to do is to come before the Lord and surrender; broken before Him; admitting you do not have it all together and you cannot fix all the mess going on in your life. (Luke 3:5) “Every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill made low. The crooked roads shall become straight, the rough ways smooth.”

You need His help and God wants to help you. He wants you to come to Him, to rely on Him and place your faith in Him. He wants to be your Heavenly Father; He wants a relationship with you. As He answers your prayers when you cry out, your faith grows. (Psalm 46:1) “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”

We will have trials in this world; we live in a broken and fallen world and there are many people, unfortunately, who do not believe in or care to worship and obey God; but apart from Him there is no victory. (John 15:5) “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in Me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.”

Mary is the one who came before Him and in breaking the expensive jar of perfume, she was coming before Him and taking that which was costly to her and breaking it and offering it up to Him. This is the most precious form of worship; when we take the most precious part of our self; whatever is most precious to us and give it up to Him. Just as Jesus was precious to God and yet He sent Him to die for us; (John 3:16) “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Stop fighting; stop struggling to hold on to “your way and your will” and just let go; admit to God you cannot do it and you need His help. He is faithful and will not let you fall. Come before Him broken, saying, “You are God and I am not, I cannot do this but You can,” and just worship Him from deep within your heart.

To be broken is saying that you know you cannot do it all, you know you need God and you believe in Him. To be broken is to come to Him with all that you have and all that you are, holding nothing back. (Hebrews 10:22) “Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.”

Trust Him with your heart and with your life; “He will not fail or forsake you.”

(Proverbs 3:5-6) “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
