Stop Doing the Devil's Work!

Is What You Do & Say Glorifying God?

(Colossians 3:12-17)

“Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. But above all these things, put on love, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”

We need to stop doing the devil’s work!

(Revelation 12:10)

“Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, 'Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.”

The inner judgments we make about people are without knowledge!  Do we know what is in their hearts and the heartache they have been through?  Heartache and hard times that might be part of the reason for some of their rough exterior?

The bible says in Matthew 7:1, “Judge not, that you be not judged.”  God is the ONLY one who knows us inside and out. He alone knows our hearts, and the bible says in I Samuel 16:7, “Man looks at the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart.” – We only see what is on the outside, but we DO NOT KNOW PEOPLE’S HEARTS.

So, when we form inner judgments about others, ASSUME, we not only hurt ourselves, but them in the way you treat them by your WRONG assumptions, and God.  He is not pleased.

He tells us in I Corinthians 13:4-7 “Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”

When we think negatively about others, harbor bitterness, resentment, and unforgiveness in our hearts, we are, according to Revelation 12:10, doing the devil’s work and sinning against them and God.

Give your issues to God, repent, and ask for His help to have the right thoughts about them.  If they hurt you, give it to God, and He will take care; He will also heal.

Psalm 68:19, “Praise the Lord who daily bears our burdens.”

God even says that He has good thoughts about us, so who are we to think bad things about others?

(Jeremiah 29:11) “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

Is what you do, what you say, and what you think glorifying God?  Is He pleased with what you are saying, thinking, and doing to others, pleasing Him?

Is what you want to do and say more important to you than refusing to humble yourself and change, more important to you than pleasing God?  If so, then you need to check your relationship with God because it needs work.

Our main verse tells us to put on love and let the peace of God rule in our hearts.  We are NOT God, and having negative thoughts, treating people rudely, being unkind, resentful, bitter, not forgiving, keeping record of their wrongs, is NOT from God; it is from Satan, you are doing the devil’s work.

If they have wronged you, give it to God; He can work things out much better than we can, and He will also heal your heart.  You do not really want the heaviness of heart that negative thoughts and feelings carry.  So give them over to God and allow Him to get through to the ones who hurt you and received His healing love in its place, which allows your heart to feel new and lighthearted.  Much better exchange!

(Isaiah 61:1-3)

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the Lord has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn, to console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.”
